I recently started reading the book Food As Foe by Lesli J. Favor. It is a book based on nutrition and eating disorders and how food effects us. Throughout the first few pages I started to become very interesting it what was to follow. A particular paragraph that caught my attention was food and emotions. This discussed how as we mature, certain foods can convey certain emotions that we may experience. I know, I know, the myth everyone claims to know is when your depressed eat chocolate or a bucket of ice cream, but theres more foods than just that to conquer emotions! For example, cookies made by grandmom makes people feel loved, soup makes people feel snug and cozy, and the smell of dinner makes us feel content. I found this really interesting because I did not know that so many foods could be connected to so many different emotions.

Did you know that there is a major luxury hotel chain that gives freshly baked cookies to people checking in.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by the whole idea of various food types triggering different emotions. Could this be the start of a research paper thesis?
